Dress Code

The Bats’ Ball is a specialist and extravagant event, where attendees are encouraged to dress as elaborately as they wish, under a broad, gothic umbrella. It is first and foremost a ball, rather than a typical nightclub event and is catered towards those who enjoy alternative fashion and long to ‘dress up’ in such beautiful surroundings.

This is not to say that we employ a ‘fashion police’, where guests are excluded for dressing more sedately, but a part of our appeal is the opportunity for guests to dress elaborately, and we treasure this special aspect of our event.

To ensure the safety and comfort of our guests, a dress code of ‘gothic/alternative’ is enforced. Should you wish to attend an event in jeans and a white t-shirt, we can recommend several alternative nightclubs who do not have such policies, but The Bats’ Ball would not encourage such dress for this particular event.

If you would wear your outfit to a business meeting or to the pub, rethink! Have fun with the possibilities!

Should you seek inspiration for your outfit, please take a look at our Gallery page or strike up a conversation on out Facebook page.

Encouraged:

We welcome the styles of all alternative subcultures, be they punk, steampunk, lolita etc.

Ball gowns, elaborate dresses, fancy jackets, top hats, crowns, tutus, the list goes on. If you make an effort, or curate an outfit that makes you feel comfortable and fabulous, we’d love to have you along.

Not Encouraged:

Street wear, or ‘normal’ clothing.

While The Bats’ Ball is an event for the over 18’s, we discourage attendees from wearing extreme fetish clothing, or clothing of an extreme sexual nature. Similarly, no nudity. The Bats’ Ball is held in a working cemetery and we expect guests to respect their surroundings and make their clothing choices appropriately.

No Nazi era German military uniforms, no hate symbols, no right-wing or deliberately inflammatory symbols.

No sexist, homophobic, transphobic etc. symbols or accessories.

Should you arrive in an outfit that is deemed severely inappropriate, i.e. nudity, displaying hate symbols, we reserve the right to refuse entry for the safety and comfort of our other guests.
